Drea & I found ourselves heading into Boston’s North End for a late lunch this weekend. Figuring you really can’t go wrong in the North End, we parked in a garage, and decided to just pick a restaurant on a whim.
After walking for a bit, peering into window fronts, & glancing at menu’s, we decided on a small restaurant that had several groups waiting for a table; L’Osteria. However, they had room for a party of two, and sat us straight away. It was your typical old-world style Italian restaurant where what it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for in the quality of its’ food. We started with an order of Shrimp Cocktail which was quite tasty, & a nice bottle of Banfi Chianti. I then had their Veal & Eggplant dish. The veal was wonderfully tender & their marinara was quite reasonable. Drea ordered one of her favorite dishes, Chicken Marsala. She thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was better than another Italian restaurant we like in Allston. Despite a generous serving size, both of us completely cleaned our plates.
After dinner, we took a walk over to Mike’s Pastry to pick up some cannoli & cappuccino. We saved the pastry for later when our appetite came back. And, damn were they were good!
